As KABKOM KİMYA, we have joined the independent rating organisation Ecovadis in 2024 to evaluate our own and suppliers’ corporate social responsibility practices. By participating in this process, we have taken another step within the scope of laboratory, quality and sustainability commitment.

With this process, we took part in this process to harmonise entrepreneurial freedom with sustainability in all business processes, from product planning to employee retention and trust-based partnerships with our customers.

As we mentioned before, in our process, which we started in 2024, we received 57 points in the first reporting year with the points we received in return for our responses to the EcoVadis survey and our responses to the survey, and we gained access to the Commitment badge.

Thus, KABKOM KİMYA has documented its vision in the field of sustainability. Together with all our stakeholders and partners, we will carry our mission further by adhering to our sustainability principles in the future.

In addition, as KABKOM KİMYA, we anticipate that we will be in a stronger position for the upcoming EcoVadis survey with the Corporate Carbon Footprint project that we will realise this year in order to improve ourselves and maintain our sustainability.

Sustainability Management

KABKOM KİMYA is an organisation committed to meeting legal requirements for environmental protection, preventing environmental pollution and continuously improving environmental protection in accordance with ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System. In addition, commitment to our employees and acceptance of responsibility for the environment and public health towards society as a whole is a high priority in our corporate culture.

In line with these principles and priorities, our production facility in Tire, Izmir, has implemented the ISO 9001 : 2015 Quality Management System, ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System and ISO 27001:2022 Information Security Management certificates.

Our aim is to get as close as possible to the ideal of a sustainable way of living and doing business. Thanks to our ideal management system, which is constantly changing and developing over time, we ensure the continuous improvement of our processes and activities by effectively implementing our goals as our corporate philosophy.

In line with international developments and sustainability activities, KABKOM KİMYA endeavours to take steps in this direction by supporting its employees, suppliers and subcontractors to widely adopt environmental awareness.

Kabkom Kimya conducts routine verification and validation of incoming inspection and final product color measurements using an X-Rite benchtop color spectrophotometer based on the CIE Lab method in its laboratory. Additionally, a color device is used for new product development studies and analysis of equivalent samples.

The Ral catalog, commonly preferred in the plastic industry, is integrated into the device, allowing for comparison of measured products with codes in the Ral catalog.

Measurement primarily involves exposing the sample placed on the device’s plate to the spectrophotometer. This determines the L*, a*, and b* values, thus establishing the coordinates of the sample’s color within the color space.

The color space is a 3-dimensional coordinate system, and L*, a*, and b* values can be considered as these coordinates. Accordingly:

L*: Lightness, brightness value, axis between black and white

a*: Axis between red and green

Shore meters, also known as Durometers, are devices with a spring-loaded weight attached to them, providing measurements through the penetration of the test probe. The lower the depth of penetration of the test probe into the sample, the lower the Shore value. Commonly used devices include Shore A and Shore D. Shore A is used for softer materials, with a weight of 12.5 N and a flatter probe tip.

Shore D is used for harder materials, with a weight of 50 N and a sharper probe tip. Additionally, there are Shore B, Shore C, Shore 0, and Shore 00 devices, and comparisons and verifications can be made within their own ranges. For example, 100 Shore A corresponds to 58 Shore D.

Measurements are conducted in accordance with ASTM D 2240 or ISO 868 standards.

Kabkom Kimya routinely verifies and validates the hardness measurements of its cable sheath and insulation products using Zwick/Roell branded Shore A and Shore D devices in its laboratory, in compliance with these standards.

Within the framework of these standards, Kabkom Kimya ensures that cable sheaths, insulation, and filling products contain less than 0.5% halogen, and routinely verifies and controls this through the use of the Devotrans branded halogen acid gas determination device in its laboratory.

The analyses conducted adhere to the EN 60754-1 standard. Additionally, measurements of pH and conductivity of the sodium hydroxide solution taken after standard measurements are carried out in accordance with EN 60754-2 Standard, and the conformity to standards is verified and controlled.

As Kabkom Kimya, we guarantee that the halogen acid content of our cable sheath, insulation, and filling products is greater than pH=4.3 and the post-test sample conductivity is less than 10µS.cm, and we routinely verify and control this.
